Transmission light not showing

Unread postby jasminjanie » Tue Jun 19, 2018 10:39 am

Hello to all.
When I turn the ignition key, the transmission light will not turn on and the LeSharo will of course not start. Just before this problem came, the transmission light was turning on while driving but the transmission seamed to work fine. Transmission fluid level is OK.
Any one have a suggestion on where to start my diagnostic?

Thanks,

Hi Alain,

It sounds like you have either a ground issue, or a power issue.

If you have a disconnect on the negative post of the battery, make sure it's good.

The no start says it is a major thing, not just the transmission computer.

Check the main grounds next, especially where they go to the engine.

What voltage is in your battery? Perhaps the alternator went out and the light on the dash is not working?

Anyway, these are good areas to start.

Cheers, Scott

Hello Scott!

Thanks for replying. I just checked all connections to the battery and cleaned every thing. All is ok.

The battery have been tested with a battery tester and it checked ok. Voltage is more than 11 volts.

I'm not sure what you mean by the ground going to the engine. Can you explain more on this one please?

The alternator have been changed 2 years ago. I really doubt that would be the problem.

Thanks again for your help

Hi Alain,

If you have a volt meter..... start the LeSharo, rev the engine a little, then let it return to idle...then advise voltage..... We can go from there.

11 volts is poor, very poor...a properly charged battery reads 12.6 volts at rest.

My guess is either alternator or ground, or a poor connection somewhere.

You can always PM me if you want to discuss privately.

Cheers, Scott

Hello Scott,

It would be really a pleasure to start it if it could. But no sound if any kind when I turn the ignition key.

My cotch battery is 13.5 volts and I do use it with the switch to boost the engine battery. Nothing also. Correction on my engine battery, it is at 12 volts.

So at that point now where I think to check the Neutral start relay.

What do you think?

Thanks,

It really sounds like a grounding problem. It could easily be a bad ignition switch. I have read of many having to change out the switch. Just chiming in.

Chiming? How do you do this?

I have tested the Neutral Start relay, it's good. So it's not that.

I will check the current from the ignition switch.

Thanks

If you are talking about the Neutral Start relay connected to the transmission computer, this one is tested and works

Little update.

The starter will work if I disconnect the main connecter from the transmission computer. The big 6 wire connecter.

Transmission Computer bad?

Let me know what you think please,

Alain
