EU2200i Generator on a non-generator Phasar

Unread postby ascii_man » Wed Mar 14, 2018 8:54 pm

I'd like to add a Honda EU2200i [1]. My Phasar was not built with a generator, so retrofitting in the intended location is too complex[2].

My Phasar is not readily accessible for measurements. What is a good place for a concealed, theft-resistant mounting of a (L x W x H) 20.0" x 11.4" x 16.7" generator?

If you've read the link that you posted than you already know this is not a good idea. The potential problems (carbon monoxide, cooling, noise, structural mods, fuel supply, serviceability) could turn this project into a nightmare. I sometimes carry a small generator which can be used either locked to my rear carrier, or from behind bushes or other noise barrier 30ft away, with the same cable lock looped around a tree. I seldom need a generator and removing the original was one of the most worthwhile mods I've done.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely decided not to put it in the standard location; just wondered if someone could suggest an alternate spot.

Could you provide more information on the rear carrier? I am now thinking that may be the best way as long as it doesn't protrude much more than the spare tire.

Here are a couple of boxes I've seen:
