What is the voltage output of your alternator.... if into the 17v region, time to replace. As Ron said, make sure your grounds are good, and that the battery terminals are tight.

Cheers, Scott

In the morning I drove 260 miles with no new problems. I replaced the headlights and they're working.

The local auto shops can get me the Eagle alternator, but they ask wether have AC or not. My itasca does if course, so I I'm guessing that I need the AC flavor of alternator?

Theo.
The 2.2 Medallion is a good parts reference for some but not all H-bodies. Remember that the Medallion engine is a the 2.2 with the Bendix FIS (fuel injection system.) Most engines parts should fit 89 1/2 through final 92. H-bodies.Bendix
The 85 through 89 1/2 H-body had the Bosch IFS, and just a few fuel system parts from the Bendix system might fit The Bendix fuel injectors are different and should not be used to cross over as a "will fit" The whole engine electric system is different, so be sure if you find a place to buy parts in your area, make the counter guy at the parts house know the difference. If you have an early 2.2 before
Electrical and electronics parts from from Renault Trafic,(in Europe and the UK and Renault and AMC built 82-85Fue,,R17,,R18i
and 89 1/2 Sportswagon sold in the US.I get my parts locally when I can, And there are on-line Parts houses that carry some but not all of what we need..If you go to Owners group and check their correspondence and Files section, you might find the answer to your questions.

We were talking about the alternator but i get what you are saying. Btw to
tell difference between Bosch and Bendix IDI just look at valve cover oil
fill. At the front its Bendix, at the rear its Bosch.

Got em mixed up Theo.... the early 86 to 89 1/2 were Bosch..with the oil filler on the radiator end of the valve cover.
.After 89 1/2 the Bendix oil filler was on the cowl end of the valve cover That is an easy way to tell 'em apart. Also. the Bendix does not have the Airflow Meter bolted to the radiator crossmember. The Bosch has a thermostat housing for the thermostat while the Bendix thermostat is at the upper end of the upper radiator hose.

The alternators for the Bosch and Bendix Are different. The mounts are the differentiator, plus the Bosch 105 amp units are dual winding.... optimized for low and high rpms...... an expense alternator..... so keep it if this is what you have and get it rebuilt.

Cheers, Scott

OK, I'm a bit confused about what I'm looking for now.

Mine's an '88, and it looks like I have a Bosch (filler is up front). Is this the less common type? How do I source this part? What is the actual name/type of my engine?

You guys are incredible, thanks for all the info so far.
