85 Winnebago LeSharo Start but Wont Stay Running

Unread postby trayshawncustoms » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:43 pm

85 Winnebago, 2.2L gas engine, has been sitting for a very long time. It only has 8K miles. It starts but wont stay running unless I keep my foot on the accelerator. I put 5 gallons of gas in the tank and cleaned the fuel injectors with Gumout, no change. I've changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter is new; I've basically covered all the fuel systems. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Hi ?
Sounds like a vacum leak. Check all the hoses especially the two larger ones that go to the air intake. If you replace the hoses, check for orifices in the hoses and transfer them to the new hose.
Could also be a bad temperature sensor, does the engine run ok once it warms up?
Check your service manual for the fuel section troubleshooting pointers.
Hope it helps,
Rick

On a problem like this it would not hurt to check out the crank sensor!
